Chevy's Silverado is a great option for people who need a full-size truck, while the Suburban combines towing capacity with plenty of seating, but what about people who needed a little of both? The Chevy Avalanche crossed the gap, replacing the Suburban's third row of seating with a short bed and adding a "midgate" that let cargo extend into the cab. This "Super SUV" carried most of the equipment options of the Suburban, including the Z71 off-road package, a flex-fuel V8 and self-leveling suspension. As the Silverado gained features that had been unique to the Avalanche, sales of the SUV/truck fell until it was finally discontinued in 2013.
