Chevrolet Cavalier Years

The introduction of the Cavalier in 1982 brought a new era of compact cars to Chevrolet, replacing the rear wheel drive Monza with a modern front wheel design. Over the years, the platform was adapted to a range of body styles including sedans, coupes, hatchbacks, station wagons and convertibles. Powertrains have been just as varied, including OHV and DOHC four cylinders and a couple V6's. It was even briefly sold as a Toyota in Japan. While this flexibility kept sales high through its production, the design was falling behind competitors by the time it was replaced by the Cobalt in 2006.
